Port Productivity Dashboards
New flexible, fully integrated real-time dashboards built on Power BI
How Power BI allows NSW Ports to see and respond to information in near real time
NSW Ports manages four major infrastructure assets including Port Botany, Port Kembla, Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre and the Cooks River Intermodal Terminal. They needed a better reporting solution to see their main KPIs in real-time.
NSW Ports needed to provide management reporting on port productivity to see the performance of their ports in near real-time.
The client’s existing reporting environment was outdated, it required manual data input from multiple sources and it used MS Excel to present the results. Moreover, reports did not display the very latest data, and this time lag in the reporting prevented managers from making timely decisions and taking corrective action where needed
Initially focused on operations at Port Botany, Agile Analytics developed a set of interactive reports using Power BI to provide the business with access to key information in an easy and timely manner. The fully automated data process allowed managers to monitor key performance metrics in near real time, with the ability to drill-through to different areas for detailed analysis and measurement against business KPI’s.
The dashboards include key performance metrics such as container terminal performance, berth utilisation and rail & road performance providing a holistic view of Port Botany’s operations.
The Dashboards are displayed on rotation on large screens in the NSW Ports offices which allows staff to quickly see changes in key performance metrics.
The success of the original Port Botany solution and its reception by both senior management and operational staff, led NSW Ports to engage Agile Analytics to develop a suit of similar performance reports, customised to the needs of their Port Kembla operations.
