Course Description:
If you have been using DAX for the prescribed 6+ months recommend as a prerequisite to this course, you will already know what a game changing product Power BI is. Microsoft likes to say “5 mins to build your first dashboard”, but you will know by now that this statement belies the complexities under the hood. Most people learning DAX make some progress, normally with some formal introductory training, but to truly understand what is going on is a completely different thing. If you want to get the most out of Power BI, you need to master DAX and data modelling in Power BI.
If you have been using DAX for a while and realise that you don’t really understand how it works, then this the course for you. This is a 1 day live, instructor lead, virtual (online) training course that will teach you what you need to know. The trainer is a recognised industry expert who has been working with DAX for than 6 years. The key topics covered in this course include
• Brief revision of the basics
• How CALCULATE really works
• Data Modelling concepts
• Relationship types and use cases
• Evaluation contexts and context transition.
• FILTER() explained
• SUM() vs SUMX().
• Writing complex formulas using the VAR syntax.
• Other DAX patterns to solve business problems.
Virtual Live Training
This is a live, virtual, online training course. You will interact with the trainer throughout the day using remote PC technology from the comfort of your own home or workplace. Ideally you will have 2 devices for the training (a screen to watch the training content) and a PC on which you can take notes and do various exercises.
Timings
The training will be held in Australian Eastern Standard Time timezone 9 AM – 12:30 PM (UTC +10) over 2 consecutive days (3.5 hours each day) and hence is suitable for anyone living in a country with a similar timezone (of course with slightly different start and finish times in that case).
